TODDLER ROOM: (18 months - 3 years)
The following is what we like to call our Daily Flow in the Toddler Room, for its routine and its flexibility: 7:00 - Children will be greeted and given time to make a positive separation from parents/caregivers - Group integration/free play activities 8:00 - Diaper check/ Toileting / Handwashing 8:15 - Free Play 9:00 - Part-time children begin arriving. Welcome and group integration/free play activities 9:15 – Clean-up – prepartion for Circle Time 9:30 - Circle time (calendar, songs & finger plays) 10:00 – Diaper check/ Toileting/ Handwashing 10:15 – Nutritious snack (brought from home) 10:30 – Indoor/Outdoor Free Play 11:00 – Teacher directed activity (Readiness skills, Arts & Crafts, Kindermusik ) 11:30 – Diaper check/ Toileting / Handwashing /Nutritious lunch (brought from home) 12:00 - Children Choose their activities - Quiet time before nap (look at books, sing or listen to soft music) 12:30 – Nap time (naps, resting, quiet activities) 1:00 – Part-time children leave with parent/caregiver 3:00 – Diaper check/ Toileting / Handwashing / Nutritious snack (brought from home) 3:30 - Children play outside or inside -free choice (eg. manipulatives, sand/water table) or teacher directed activity (story, music/movement activity) 5:00 – Diaper check/ Toileting / Handwashing / Preparation for going home 5:30 – End of Day – Children leave with parent / caregiver *This schedule is flexible and is used as a guideline for the day's activities. Our primary goals are to meet the individual needs of the children.
PRE-K- (ages 2.9 - 5 years) 7:00 – Extended Day Care - Children will be greeted and given time to make a positive separation from parents/caregivers - free play indoors 8:45 – 9:00 : Arrival for Pre-K - Children will be greeted and given time to make a positive separation from parents/caregivers. 9:00 : Free Play (Indoors) - Children have the opportunity to choose from several activities such as puzzles, blocks, manipulatives and Dramatic Play area. This allows them the opportunity to become involved in individual play, parallel play or cooperative play with other children. Self-help skills will be encouraged when children are encouraged to cooperatively put toys away at the end of this time. 9:30 - Circle Time - Circle Time will begin by singing a Welcome Song, which recognizes each child. Calendar is always a part this time, when children will be encouraged to recognize the month, days of the week and counting the days in the month. The children will take turns fixing the Weather Chart, pretending to be the "Meteorologist". Children will also be encouraged to share something special they have brought from home. 9:45 – Toileting/Snack - Children will be encouraged to use the toilet and wash hands before snack. Parents are encouraged to send a nutrtious snack from home. 10:15 – Indoor/Outdoor Free Play - Children will choose from a variety of outdoor play equipment (swings, slides, play house, climbing structure, balls, sand area). Tunnels, mats and indoor games will be available for indoor play, in addition to manipulatives, blocks and Dramatic Play area. 10:45 – Activity Time - A variety of activities will be available during this time. Some will be teacher directed and require teacher assistance. These activities will center around our monthly theme and encourage the development pre-writing, math, science, and cognitive skills such as color identification. We will also have tap dancing and Spanish once each week. Examples of child directed activities: using art materials, manipulatives and Dramatic Play Area. 11:45 - Toileting/ Preparation for Lunch - Children will be encouraged to use the toilet and wash hands before lunch. Parents are encouraged to send a nutrtious lunch from home. 12:00 - Lunch 12:30 - Cirle Time – This time will be designed to bring closure to the day. It may include a story to go with our theme or Group Circle Game. It will always end with a Good-Bye song. This time will be devoted to a KINDERMUSIK class once each week, with parents/caregiver being invited to join for the last 15 minutes for Sharing Time. 1:00 – Departure for Pre-K 1:00 - 5:30 – Extended Day Care - This time will include a rest period, nutritious snack brought from home, free play indoors/outdoors, Story Time, use of arts/crafts materials. 5:30 – Departure for Extended Day Care
